Lab Rules & Safety

Rules and safety practices that keep the lab productive and everyone safe.

General rules​

  • Keep your workspace clean; return tools and equipment after use.
  • Log usage of shared/expensive equipment.
  • Do not remove hardware from the lab without approval.
  • Respect booking schedules for shared instruments.

Electrical & soldering safety​

  • Power down before wiring; check polarity and voltage before applying power.
  • Use proper ventilation when soldering; wear eye protection.
  • Treat LiPo/Li-ion batteries with care — correct charging and storage only.

Robotics & moving hardware​

  • Keep clear of moving robots, arms and AGVs during operation.
  • Use an accessible emergency stop on powered platforms.
  • Test new motion code at low speed first.

Incident reporting​

Report damage, hazards or injuries to a lab manager immediately.
